Supporters have started to assemble on The Mall to commemorate the Princess of Wales joining her family for Trooping the Colour.

Despite undergoing treatment for cancer, Kate will join her family in a carriage procession through London, accompanied by her children Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis. The event culminates at Buckingham Palace, where she will join King Charles, Queen Camilla, Prince William, and other royals for the RAF flypast at 1pm.

Scotland Yard has deployed a substantial police presence, with heightened security due to expected crowds and a ban on amplified protests by anti-monarchy group Republic near the palace.

When will Kate be seen?

The Princess of Wales is scheduled to make her inaugural public appearance of the year by joining her family at Trooping the Colour with two actitivites.

Kate will participate in the traditional carriage procession on Saturday around 12:20 pm, accompanied by her three children: Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis.

Following this, she is anticipated to join the King, the Prince of Wales, and other members of the royal family on Buckingham Palace’s balcony to witness the fly-past.

A Brave Appearance

Kate, 42, has been battling an undisclosed form of cancer and has both good and bad days as she undergoes “preventative chemotherapy.” In an emotional statement, she expressed gratitude for the well wishes she and her family have received during this difficult time.

“I am making good progress, but as anyone going through chemotherapy will know, there are good days and bad days,” Kate said in a statement released Friday, adding that she faces “a few more months” of treatment.

“I’m looking forward to attending The King’s Birthday Parade this weekend with my family and hope to join a few public engagements over the summer, but equally knowing I am not out of the woods yet,” Kate said.

King Charles, her father-in-law, is “delighted” that she will join the royal family for Saturday’s events, including the King’s Birthday Flypast.

Delight and Determination

The palace expressed delight that Kate will attend Trooping the Colour, also known as the King’s Birthday Parade. This annual military event celebrates the monarch’s official birthday in June. Despite her ongoing battle with an undisclosed form of cancer, Kate’s determination shines through. King Charles, who is also undergoing treatment, will oversee the ceremony. Troops in full dress uniform will parade past the king, carrying their ceremonial flag, or “color.”

Royal Carriage and Balcony Appearance

Kate is expected to arrive at the parade ground in a horse-drawn carriage from Buckingham Palace. Accompanying her will be the couple’s children: Prince George (10), Princess Charlotte (9), and Prince Louis (6). Afterward, she’ll watch the ceremony from a building adjacent to the parade ground. There’s also a possibility that she’ll join other royals for the traditional Buckingham Palace balcony appearance.

A Message of Comfort

Prime Minister Rishi Sunak praised Kate’s recent statement, calling it “wonderful news.” He commended her bravery and honesty, emphasizing that her words would bring comfort to others facing similar health challenges. Sunak shared these sentiments during the Group of Seven summit in Italy.

Royal Superfans Gather

In anticipation of Kate’s appearance, royal superfans armed with cardboard cutouts of the Princess of Wales have descended on The Mall. The excitement is palpable as they eagerly await the Trooping the Colour parade, where King Charles will reunite with his daughter-in-law.
